Plan for the season where you live.
Choose the season, broad weather conditions and systems in your home. Get a prioritized printable list of observations and planning prompts—not a claim that every home needs the same maintenance.
Your seasonal plan
Example: Spring · mixed conditions · all systems. Choose your conditions and select “Build my plan” to customize.
- Review first: Review smoke and CO alarm status
Use each device's manufacturer instructions and applicable local requirements; arrange help for faults.
- Plan next: Review emergency exits and contacts
Keep escape routes accessible and update your household emergency plan.
- Plan next: Check HVAC filter inspection instructions
Use your specific equipment manual to determine when to inspect or replace; do not assume a universal interval.
- Review first: Look for post-winter moisture
From accessible dry locations, note stains or visible leaks and arrange professional evaluation if needed.
- Plan next: Observe exterior drainage from ground level
After rain, note standing water or overflowing gutters. No ladder or roof access.
- Plan next: Plan cooling-system service if your manual calls for it
Schedule a qualified technician; do not open electrical or refrigerant components.

How priorities are chosen
“Review first” identifies an observation or preparation prompt that may warrant attention before other listed tasks; it is not a risk score, deadline, inspection certification or local requirement. The builder includes general year-round prompts plus season-specific tasks for selected systems. Broad conditions add or omit relevant suggestions; mixed conditions do not predict your local weather. You decide timing using your equipment manuals, actual forecasts, local emergency guidance and building responsibilities.
Example: Fall with cold conditions and plumbing selected includes a freeze-preparation review; fall with wet conditions instead includes flood and moisture preparedness. Both are planning prompts, not instructions to service pipes.
